POLL OF THE DAY: TRUTH HURTS

Twelve year Adam Lewis was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.

Against the odds he lived for 12 months after this diagnosis.

What makes this case slightly different was that his parents never told him his diagnosis was terminal. They wanted him to live the remainder of his life as happy and as normal as possible.

Did they do the right thing?

Adam knew he had a tumour but had not been told it was terminal. He believed he was being successfully treated.

Did Adam deserve honest and accurate information regarding the nature of his illness or did not knowing his fate mean that he had a better quality of life in his last months?
